Move this World
Social Emotional Learning
Move This World’s story began in 2007 when founder Sara Potler LaHayne traveled to Colombia as a Fulbright Scholar. Concepts like empathy and conflict resolution were being taught in schools but with little success. During recess, Sara noticed that the students were applying the very social emotional skills that they were struggling to connect with from textbooks. When a boombox started playing music, suddenly the students were dancing, engaging with each other, building friendships, and communicating.
Sara connected the dots to imagine a program that would teach students emotional skills for lifelong impact through movement. Several years later, Sara turned to FLY to brand this incredible effort that we named Move This World. FLY helped write much of Move This World’s content as well as direct many of the curriculum videos that have become mainstays in classrooms across America.
Today, Move This World has helped millions of students cultivate empathy, build resilience, and discover new ways to manage their emotions. Move This World content creates a supportive learning environment that contributes to student’s future academic success, career fulfillment, and lifelong happiness.
